ABOUT US

MEET THE DEVELOPER

An architect by trade and a developer by heart, Lex Chan is the kind who finds beauty in balance, in lines that make sense, and in materials that feel honest. His work is simple but rooted in deep respect for craftsmanship, efficiency, and design that works.

After completing his Master of Architecture, Lex spent years immersed in the world of property development. With Summerlight Projects, he has sharpened his vision — one deeply informed by the three months he spends in Europe each year. There, immersed in centuries of architectural heritage, he absorbs the richness of history and timeless design principles that effortlessly inspire his Australian projects.

With Summerlight Projects, he brings that experience and European sensibility into a slower, more intentional way of building, one home at a time, always with heart. The quiet elegance of old-world craftsmanship finds new expression in his contemporary work .
You'll often find him on-site with plans in hand, sleeves rolled up, solving problems with quiet confidence. He's not one for fuss — but give him a timber detail done well, and you'll see him smile.

Summerlight Projects is his way of building what he believes in: homes that feel right, work well, and last. Nothing loud — everything considered.

Summerlight Projects ~ Artisan-led, quietly crafted.

COMPLETED PROJECT  SUMMERHOPE HOUSE

PROJECT TITLE:
A Legacy of Light

BRIEF:
To dream up a calming, soul-filled sanctuary that breathes both inspiration and quietude — a home designed not only for beauty, but for the heart. Rooted in hope, Summerhope House is a refined, light-filled space that gently embraces all who enter. Sleek, modern design meets understated French charm, creating a home that feels like a sunlit hug in the middle of a fast world.

DESIGN STORY:
Summerhope House is where the vision began. More than a residence, this home was imagined as a vessel of hope. Bathed in soft light and kissed with Parisian restraint, its palette of ivory, sand, and gentle neutrals evokes serenity. Every line is considered, every corner curated — a seamless blend of modern elegance and timeless romance. With natural textures, soft edges, and quiet sophistication, Summerhope House whispers rather than shouts. It is a space that inspires creation, connection, and calm — a sacred pause where hearts gather and light is quietly passed on.

DESIGN INTENTIONS:
• Create a home that feels like a warm embrace — understated, soulful, and inspiring
• Weave light and softness through thoughtful, elegant design
• Let the space become a muse: for life, for art, for healing, for hope

True style is quiet. Simplicity, done well, is what endures.

UPCOMING PROJECTS  SERENITE & CALME

PROJECT TITLE:
Sérénité et Calme: Twin Sanctuaries in White

BRIEF:
To design two new residences that feel like timeless counterparts — individually serene, yet made more meaningful by their quiet presence beside one another. The vision: refined modernity softened by charm, with a palette of layered whites, sleek black detailing, and warm accents that reflect understated elegance.

DESIGN STORY:
In the leafy calm of West Pennant Hills, Sérénité et Calme will stand — a pair of homes conceived as modern-day manoirs. Though newly built, they feel rooted in story. Clean silhouettes and strong lines give structure, while soft furnishings, warm brass touches, and curated natural elements bring heart and ease. French influence is felt in the gentle arches, tall windows, and elegant mouldings, yet the mood is unmistakably contemporary.Inside, each space is designed to hold light. From sun-drenched kitchen corners to window seats that invite pause, every detail encourages a slower pace. Sleek black lines thread through the design like quiet punctuation — framing views, defining edges, and adding modern clarity to the soft, tonal palette. Their presence brings balance to the calm, anchoring the lightness with just enough structure. Together, these homes offer a poetic duality — clarity and warmth, structure and soul.

DESIGN INTENTIONS:
• Celebrate modern French minimalism through a softened, livable lens
• Create harmony between two homes while honouring their individual character
• Design for daily beauty — effortless, grounded, and quietly luxurious

EXPECTED COMPLETION: SPRING 2026
Each residence will be thoughtfully presented with bespoke interior design and curated furnishings — including select pieces sourced from France — chosen to enhance the architectural vision. For those seeking a seamless lifestyle, the option to acquire the home fully furnished is available.

This offering is more than convenience — it’s the gift of time. A chance to move in and immediately feel at home, surrounded by considered beauty, warmth, and balance. No waiting, no assembling, no searching — just life, ready to be lived.

UPCOMING PROJECTS  SUMMERBIRD HOUSE

PROJECT TITLE:
Summerbird House – A Quiet Symphony of Space and Stillness

BRIEF:
A charming forest-facing home that embodies quiet luxury and intentional living. Inspired by the charm of southern France and serenaded by birdsong, Summerbird is a gentle retreat where architecture dissolves into nature and life moves in rhythm with the land.
With glasshouse-inspired features and abundant garden spaces, the design invites calm, connection, and the beauty of living slowly.
To live quietly is to live fully.
Summerbird is for those who listen to the land — and find beauty in its song.

DESIGN STORY:
Tucked gently into a lush pocket, Summerbird House is imagined as a soulful hideaway — part sanctuary, part celebration of the everyday. The architecture takes cues from the glasshouse tradition, with light-filled spaces that invite the forest inward. From floor-to-ceiling glass panels to timber accents and organic textures, every element is chosen to honour the beauty just beyond its walls.
Like a hidden gem in the south of France, the home is quietly confident — layered in charm, restraint, and moments of delight. Large garden courtyards open from within, creating fluidity between inside and out. A morning coffee among the rosemary. An evening bath lit by dappled light through leaves. A home not designed to impress — but to belong.

DESIGN INTENTIONS:
• Create a seamless connection to nature through open-plan living, glass features, and a soft, organic palette
• Celebrate birdsong, sunlight, and stillness — architecture that listens rather than speaks
• Infuse French-inspired elegance through detail, balance, and charm — never excess
• Craft moments of peace, slowness, and joy into daily rituals through spatial design
• Offer a modern, considered approach to garden living — abundant, yet understated
